The Boost Treadmills National Cross Country Poll has run full speed ahead with its second edition Thursday after competitions hosted at Louisville, Oklahoma State and N.C. State over the last 10 days. The Arkansas women and Notre Dame men took the top spot after total team performances in the Gans Creek Classic and the Irish Classic, respectively.
The poll welcomes the Furman Paladins with the announcement that the Southern Conference will host its Fall Cross Country Championship. The sleeper at this point appears to be UNC Charlotte. The 49ers, at less than full strength in Louisville last Saturday, proved they can race with any team.
The next couple of weeks could see continued movement in the polls with UAB, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Virginia, and Wisconsin all hosting meets.
A number of conferences aren’t running this fall due to the coronavirus pandemic. The question that still looms large: will powerhouse programs like Northern Arizona or BYU suit up and compete?
